The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine met with the President of Latvia Andris Berzynsh in the framework of the official visit to Latvia on Wednesday.

noted that Latvia is an
important partner of Ukraine
in the Baltic region and the Ukrainian Part highly appreciates the current
level of bilateral relations .
The Chairman of the Parliament expressed his hopes that the visit of the Parliamentary delegation of Ukraine will make its important contribution into the development of Ukrainian-Latvian cooperation. "We have to join efforts to reach significant result," he said.
He informed that during the meeting with the Chairman of Seim they agreed to activate parliamentary cooperation at all levels. In his turn, Mr. President noted that interparliamentary cooperation is an important component of bilateral relations.

thanked Latvian authority for the support of ethnic Ukrainians who live in this
country, in particular, ensuring the work of Riga Ukrainian secondary school
and the department of the Ukrainian literature at Latvian Academic Library.

positively appreciated the provision of the Ukrainian citizens, who permanently
live or work on the territory
of Latvia, with equal
rights to social security and implementation of agreements in the field of
pension provision.The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada thanked Latvia for consistent support of eurointegrational aspirations of Ukraine. He highly appreciated the level of cooperation in the framework of international organizations and forums, in particular, in the United Nations and in the Council of the Baltic Sea States and supported its broadening and activating at parliamentary level.
